Islamic Marriage (Nikkah)
We offer the performance of the Nikkah ceremony in our mosque in Munich by one of our imams
The holy prophet (saw.) said:
النِّكَاحُ مِنْ سُنَّتِي فَمَنْ لَمْ يَعْمَلْ بِسُنَّتِي فَلَيْسَ مِنِّي
“The nikkah (Islamic wedding ceremony) is part of my sunnah and whoever does not observe my sunnah has nothing to do with me.”
(Sunan Ibn Majah Hadith No. 1846)
Requirements and conditions
- Both spouses must be present
- Residence: At least one spouse must reside in Germany, Austria or Switzerland (proof by ID or current registration certificate max. 6 months old)
- The bride must be single, both Islamically and legally
- Wali: If the bride has a wali, his consent is required. His presence is highly appreciated.
- A prior civil marriage (Standesamt) is not required.
- Mahr: Determination of the amount and type of bridal gift (at the latest on site).
Presence of two Muslim men as witnesses.
Required documents
- Valid identity cards or passports of both spouses and witnesses
- If previously married: proof of divorce (Islamic and legal)
Witnesses
Two male Muslim witnesses are required for the marriage to be valid.
- The witnesses must be organized in advance by the bride and groom (none are provided).
- They must not be ancestors or descendants of the bride and groom.
- Ideally, the witnesses should be practicing Muslims and know at least one of the spouses personally.
Fee
The fee for the Nikkah is 100€ and is to be paid on site.

- Reviewing data and documents
- Short speech on the meaning of the Nikkah
- Khutbah of the nikkah
- Consummation of the marriage
- Dua (supplication)
Further information
- Please note that several marriage ceremonies may take place on the same date.
- Photography and video recordings are not permitted during the ceremony.
- Please ensure that all persons are dressed appropriately (e.g. no uncovered legs, women are requested to wear a headscarf).
- We ask that you arrive on time
- Duration: Please allow approx. 45-60 minutes,
